If this movie ended after the first hour, it would have been one of the best modern slashers. High Tension (2003) is an extreme French horror movie from director Alexandre Aja. It starts with a bang (literally) and the first hour is an absolutely perfect slasher/home invasion horror movie. The scenes in this will stick with me for some time. It’s genuinely terrifying, brutal, and chilling. But then, it goes off the rails. The last 15-20 minutes introduce a twist ending that feels shoehorned in.
