As Japan’s third-largest prefecture, Fukushima is huge, which means heading from the east coast to the western mountains almost feels like travelling to a different country entirely. Fortunately, that also means an abundance of beautiful natural scenery, whether you’re looking to see the towering cliffs in Naraha Town or the striking snowy views at the Kaneyama Fureai Hiroba viewpoint. Meanwhile, Fukushima has nearly twenty ski resorts spread throughout the prefecture, with several resorts nestl

There are many unique and spectacular spots in Fukushima Prefecture! The first is Lake Inawashiro, which is known as a spot where swans fly in for the winter. It is the fourth largest lake in Japan and is famous for "splash ice," a phenomenon that occurs in January and February when the water of the lake is blown by the westerly wind and freezes on the trees along the shore. The silvery white lake with its swans and splashing ice is breathtaking! The second is the Tadami Line, which connects Koid

❄️ First snow of the year in Fukushima City this morning! ❄️ Much like last year, we had our first snow on the ground here in Fukushima City in early December. Temperatures were down to -2°C this morning, but it’s been quite sunny in the afternoon! There’s also been reports of snow across the prefecture in the Aizu region today, with the hillier ski regions of Inawashiro, Urabandai and Oku-Aizu already having seen snow in November 🥶 Many ski resorts are due to open December 13, but check indivi

Fukushima City looks stunning from the Karasugasaki Observation Deck on the western side of Mt. Shinobu! 🤩⛰️ Mt. Shinobu is one of the landmarks of Fukushima City, and the best part is that it is easily accessible from the JR/Shinkansen Fukushima Station! Whether you are looking for a cool autumn hike or a scenic drive with incredible views, this spot will surely not disappoint! 🙌 If you like this reel, please share it! 🔖#visitfukushima #fukushima #mtshinobu #visitjapanjp #visitjapanau #visit

NEKOMA Mountain is one of Japan’s biggest ski resorts, spanning both sides of Mt. Nekomadake in the Bandai region of central Fukushima. When combining the north and south areas, which used to be separate resorts but are now connected by a single lift, there are 13 lifts and 33 courses to try (ranging in difficulty from Olympian-level black runs to lil baby courses like the ones I stuck to.) The south side has great views over Lake Inawashiro (when the snow stops!), whereas the north side is more

Have you heard of Fukushima’s small Mt. Fuji? It’s known as Mt. Azuma-Kofuji!⛰️ It is part of the Higashi Azuma Volcano group and stands at 1,707 meters. The highest point along the Bandai Azuma highway, Jododaira, serves as the entrance to Mt. Azuma-Kofuji. This area is notable for it’s wetland created by a volcanic eruption. A highly recommended walk starts from service center, and after about 20-minutes walk, you will be rewarded with breathtaking beauty of nature✨📸 📷shooting date:19 Jun 20

Make sure not to miss the Goshikinuma ponds in autumn colour season! One of the most popular, the Bishamon-numa Pond, is known for its sheer size and as a popular starting spot for the Goshikinuma Nature Trail, which winds through the wooded paths past seven or eight of the main ponds. The marshland area traces its history back to a steam explosion of Mt. Bandai in 1888, which caused the formation of hundreds of lakes and ponds. The colour of the water varies by the day or by the week, so it’s e
